"It is an uncanny feeling, that rare occasion when one catches a glimpse of oneself in repose. An unguarded moment, stripped of artifice, when one forgets to fool even oneself." -Kate Morton, The House at Riverton

My Very First Entry

Oh! I’m so excited that this is up and running, I almost don’t know what to say!

Almost…

First off, thanks Jeff for getting this all up and running for me. I know I nagged you about it and then it’s days before I actually get to post anything. I guess I just wanted to see if you respond to my sense of urgency. Heehee. I’ll try to be better, promise.

Hello world! Since this is a snapshot of my life, it’s only fitting that I share with you all the exciting event we just had. My dear mother turns 75 years young tomorrow and we had quite the soiree for her this past weekend.

Aren’t planning parties fun? In a way, I am fortunate to be able to do it for a living, but it’s a completely different experience when you plan something for family with family. It’s entertaining, irritating, and rewarding all at the same time and at the end of the day, everything turns out perfectly and all the little nuances we debated over email no longer matter.

The event was a great success, I am pleased to report. My mother shined like the diamond she always is and it was great to catch up with all the uncles, aunties, cousins and friends who stopped by to join the celebration. Sunday’s party brought to mind all the parties we attended while growing up. Every weekend, it was like gaggles of geese visiting one pond or another. Never free to dally, always had somewhere to go and people to see.

Hopefully, I can get some photos posted soon. I just have to learn how to go about that…Jeeeeffffff??????
